Foreign Vehicle Registration Service

The process for registering your foreign vehicle to Spanish registration is not a difficult or lengthy process if you have the professional help which Amanda at CAR REG COSTA BLANCA can offer.

Once you have decided to re-register your vehicle or want to discuss the alternatives, please contact Amanda who can give you all the advice needed and pricing for the re-registration process. To ascertain the correct price a series of questions will be asked about your vehicle and your resident status in Spain. You will be required to hold certain legal paperwork such as a registration document for the vehicle, Original NIE certificate or residencia card, Original padron certificate (which can be obtained from your local town hall, but please speak with Amanda before you do this) and a valid passport or Notary copy of your passport.

Amanda will source headlamps if required and Mike would fit these for you. If you have any other concerns about whether your vehicle is roadworthy for the ITV (mot) then this would also be discussed.

An appointment will be made with a fully qualified engineer in Spain and the vehicle would undergo an import ITV (mot). Many clients wish to accompany Amanda for the first part of the process and there are toilet and cafeteria facilities at the ITV station used.

However if you wish for Amanda to carry out the practical part on your behalf then this can also be arranged. This part of the process usually takes one morning. However if you are leaving Spain and wish for us to hold your vehicle until your return, then a secure storage area is used which you will be shown, so that you can be happy your vehicle is being well looked after whilst you are away.

Some clients will need to visit the British Consulate and if time allows I aim to do this on the same morning. If a vehicle fails the ITV (mot) then a re-test fee is charged by the ITV station once the repairs have been made to the vehicle.

The legal paperwork is then handled personally by Amanda during the next few days and I am proud to say that I do not use any other third party companies for this. Visits to the Spanish tax office and Traffic office are made on behalf of the clients and I also settle the road tax for the vehicle and order the Spanish number plates once the new Spanish registration document is released.

Mike can fit the plates to the car and this is arranged once the insurance has been changed over to the new Spanish registration. Amanda can also assist you with the insurance by obtaining quotations on your behalf or can supply you with a list of English speaking companies and contact numbers.

All documentation including the new Spanish registration document will then be returned to you once the process is complete.

I aim to complete each vehicle registration within 7 working days and often the process can be completed within 4 working days. It is important to inform Amanda if you intend to leave Spain whilst the process is being carried out so that the necessary paperwork can be completed on your behalf.
